Deep Inward, Quiet Midwinter

How do you embrace the season of winter? I love reminding myself that each season of the year is associated with a phase of the menstrual cycle. Winter is associated with the menstrual phase—shedding, inward-turning, quiet, deep intuitition and inner connection. I’ve found myself listening to binural beats and frequency music on repeat and craving time in stillness. Listening to these playlists on a walk, observing the rhythm of the ocean waves feels so soothing and centering.

Each winter I hit a phase wherein I show up to the things that are good for me JUST BECAUSE I know they are good for me (not necessarily because I am brimming with motivation). While years of habit-forming lends a hand in this practice, I try not to focus on any “result” I am hoping to achieve, and simply focus on follow-through. I think each and every one of us needs to discover the line between giving ourselves grace and self sabotage. Only you know where that line is!

I’ve also been spending the first couple of hours a day without touching my phone and…yes it is 100% as effective as you might guess it to be. While it’s not something I’ll always be able to do, I’m definitely enjoying the ride for now!

What are some things you’re doing to tend to your mental/physical/spiritual health this season?
